Toure Signs For City Wed, 29 July, 17.48
Manchester City are delighted to announce that Kolo Toure has joined from Arsenal.

The central defender who spent seven years with the Gunners has signed a four-year contract and becomes the sixth summer signing. He passed a medical late this afternoon and then headed straight to the Blues headquarters to finalise paper work. Boss Mark Hughes who added Kolo to other new faces in England midfielder Gareth Barry, strikers Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, and Roque Santa Cruz and goalkeeper Stuart Taylor believes that the Ivory Coast defender will be a huge influence in the dressing room and on the pitch.

Nedum Onuoha has agreed a new five-year contract and immediately admitted he will have to improve again this season if he is to nail down a place in the Blues first team.

Competition for places in Mark Hughes’ side is strong but 22-year-old Academy graduate Onuoha who finished last season in a blaze of glory is ready for the challenge. “I am really, really happy,” he declared. “This is a great place for any young player to be. Hopefully it will be the start of another good five years for me and for the club. This is a season that we will be looking right towards the top of the table.

What we're hearing is that a deal is close to being done with Arsenal for their centre back Kolo Toure. The deal is not done yet so don't believe what you hear but it is quite close to being finalised. We believe it could be done by the end of this week (August 01).
